In-home pet sitting

Shane H offers occasional in-home pet sitting alongside his work at the Main Street salon in Germantown. Availability comes and goes, so ask early.

Occasional, so ask first

Pet sitting is something Shane does on an occasional basis, in addition to his work at the salon. It is not a standing service with set openings, so the first step is simply to ask whether he can take your dates.

Call or text (262) 423-3500 as early as you can, and leave a voicemail if nobody picks up. The salon does not publish a pet-sitting service area, so tell the team where you live when you ask and they can say whether it works.

Staying home keeps the routine

In-home sitting means your pet stays where its own bed, bowls and routine already are. For an animal that gets unsettled by a change of place, that is the point. Nothing about the day has to be rearranged around a kennel.

Write the routine down before you go: feeding times, walks, any medication, and the spots where your dog or cat likes to be left alone. A sitter can only keep a routine that someone has explained, and a short list on the fridge helps.

Why a groomer makes a good sitter

A groomer spends hours with each pet and learns it fast. Mark Antrim wrote in his Google review about Christie, "She knows his routine, his preferences, his temperament". That is the kind of familiarity a sitter needs too, and it is why the question is worth asking here.

Shane has been part of the salon since day one. He grew up on a horse farm, got involved in 4H and rabbit shows, and has always loved animals of all kinds. Say which kind of pet you have when you ask, since availability for a particular animal is something to confirm.
